Not What, But How?

Aware of the selection process going on in the Republican ranks and evaluating the contenders one by one through the lens of our own fallible and biased mind set, there is an element missing in the perilous ritual.  We do sense some unanimity in terms of what is wrong and needs to be fixed, beginning with addressing our profligate spending and minimizing our debt; maybe helped by stimulating job creation. All want a revision of our tax codes and reports the average PhD can file in his/her own office. Most of us have had enough immigrants, legal and otherwise, to last us for a decade, and we are weary of genuflecting to militant Islam and tolerating their bullying the weak, the women, and Christians any place and any time they want to. Make your own list; but then comes the rub.

The leader we elect must be one who can not only clarify his agenda, but who knows how to deal with a contumacious, intractable party-dominated agenda.  We can’t fix anything until we get someone in charge who can ameliorate, persuade, cajole, or produce specific programs.  We can no longer bestrew the halls of congress with delays, stall tactics and “eye-for-an-eye” mentality. We need a new era in partisanship.  Bringing that about is no slam dunk. But we put them there to run the nation.  When do they start on that mission?
